Privacy policy: My Gemstones and My Gemstones Free

My Gemstones and My Gemstones Free (the "apps") are made by East Data Systems LLC. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use them.

The short version

• Your collection (stones, photos, notes, prices, folders and settings) is stored only on your phone.
• There are no accounts, no sign-in, no cloud sync and no analytics. We never receive your collection.
• My Gemstones (the paid app) has no ads and no Internet permission, so it cannot send anything over the Internet.
• My Gemstones Free shows ads. To show them it uses the Internet and Google's ad service, Google AdMob, described below. Your collection is never sent to the ad service.

Information that stays on your phone

Everything you enter in the apps, including photos taken with the camera, is kept in the app's private storage on your phone. It is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data. Backups (.gembackup), cards (.gemcard), PDFs and CSV exports are created only when you ask for them, and go only where you send or save them.

Sale prices, purchase details and sold dates are left out of shared cards.

Permissions

• Camera: to photograph stones, read text from lab reports and take measurement photos. The pictures are processed on the phone; text recognition runs on the phone with no Internet.
• Internet (My Gemstones Free only): to load ads and to ask for your ad consent where the law requires it.

Ads in My Gemstones Free

My Gemstones Free uses Google AdMob to show a banner at the bottom of the main screen. Google may collect and use information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information and ad interactions, to show ads, to measure them and to prevent fraud. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and some US states), the app asks for your consent or offers an opt-out first through Google's consent form, and you can change your choice later from ⋮ → About → Privacy options.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your phone's Settings under Google → Ads (or Security & privacy → Privacy → Ads).

If you prefer no ads and no Internet use at all, use My Gemstones (the paid app).

Feedback email

If you use Feedback?, the app opens your own email app with a message and, if you choose, a screenshot. Nothing is sent unless you send that email. We use what you send only to answer you and to improve the apps.

Children

The apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date.
